Lucy Loo

-one of my favorite things about Lucy was when she would come back from getting her hair cut. She was so soft and sporty. They would shave her and keep her long flowy tail and beard long. Oh i loved it.

-she was so sweet. so sweet.

she gave lots of kisses

she made me happy, so happy.

this is by far my favorite picture of her. all you can see is her pink tongue. her fur was black, her eyes were black, everything was black except for that cute tongue.

Memories about Lucy

1. she loved home, but she loved, i mean loved, to go explore around the roads around 505 N. Cherokee. There were many nights that she would cross the busy street and take off running (she always ran kind of crooked and I loved it). I would get so mad at her when I would see her bushy tail down the road, but she always came back. I was usually the only one that could catch her :  )

2. She found me and I called her my “run around puppy”. I named her Lucy after the street we lived on, Lucy Lane

3. she’s put up with many, many other pets. she got so jealous of some (Reese) that she even started biting with her toys (something she never did)

4. she loved for you to rub her tummy (which had black freckles on it)

5. she and reese slept in my room every night in cherokee..i would say let’s go girls and they would come running to the breakfast room door to go upstairs

6. i couldn’t have asked for a better buddy than lucy.

7. i will name my first girl Lucy, regardless of what my future husband thinks  :  )

january 27 is always a hard day, but I know she’s waggin’ her beautiful long tail up with all my other pups in heaven.

Gregory Carter Bess is a mess

wow. this picture is old, but i can’t explain to you just how happy it makes me. I’m pretty sure that this picture was taken the very first time I drove to school by myself when I was 16!!!I swear Carter looks older every day..i mean compare it to this….

Thanks for making me happy Carter Barter! You continue to amaze me at how funny you are and how you constantly come up with something else to make everyone laugh at.  For instance…your “in the hood jacket”

and your “texas cowboy wannabe belt buckle”.

Keep making every body smile, you’re doing a good job!!!!

during this year I….

and these girls made my day every day.

Homemade Tomato Soup

Right now I am sitting at my kitchen table (procrastinating homework. ha) smelling some wonderful tomato soup on the stove. I can’t wait to eat it! I’m going to serve it with grilled cheese, done on the stove with plenty of butter, just like my daddy would make toast for breakfast! Recipe and pictures to come soon!

“Stuff White People Like”

***This post may seem somewhat random. But this is a class assignments for my TELL (Teaching English Language Learners). After reading this, please post a comment about what  your gut reaction to this post was. I got this information at

jondog.jpgA lot of cultures love dogs – be it forentertainmentlabor, or other. But white people love dogs on an entirely different level.

It should be understood that in white culture, dogs are considered training for having children. That is to say that any white couple must get a dog before they have kids. This will prepare them for responsibility by having another creature to feed, supervise it’s bathroom activities, and to love. Because of this, white people generally assume that their dog is their favorite child unless otherwise stated.

When actual children are born, the dog is not displaced but rather remains as the most important member of the household. This is because of the fact that white children will eventually hate their parents, but dogs will love anyone who feeds them.

White people generally believe that dogs have human emotions and that they are capable of loving certain TV shows, films, and music. “Buster just loves watching Six Feet Under!” Even though most dogs would enjoy watching Hitler if he were getting attention every time it came on the TV.

They also believe that their dogs share similar tastes in food – “Little Ben Kweller likes the Organic food the best.” Forgetting the fact that dogs enjoy eating their own feces, and pretty much anything that falls onto the floor.

When searching for homes, many white people will require large yards so that their “dog can run around.” If you work in real estate, this can be exploited for large markups when selling to white people.

It is also a proven fact, that dogs are often used by white people to attract members of the opposite sex. Bringing a puppy or dog to a local dog park, will encourage interaction and conversation. Even more so than a Mac Laptop.

If white people are ever talking about their dogs, it is essential that you reassure them that their dogs are absolutely special and unique. That they are being properly cared for, and that treating like children is the only way to care for a pet. Under no circumstance EVER should you say anything that is derogatory towards dogs, critical of spoiling dogs, or that they are not full members of society who deserve the same rights as humans. Doing any of these three things will completely destroy all relationships you might have had with a white person.

Everybody loves Pizza!!!

Letting the dough rise

spread the pizza sheet with a little bit of corn meal to keep it from sticking to the bottom

spread out the dough to fit the entire circle

turn up the edges to make a crust

spread the homemade pizza sauce

put lots of cheese (mozzarella and parmesan)

I used mini pepperonis…they are the cutest things since I don’t know what

layer all your other toppings and sprinkle a little more cheese on top

ta da!! the finished result!

it was so good! i think nana and mitchell would agree!

…Pizza Dough Recipe…

5 cups all purpose flour

2 pkgs Active Dry Yeast

2 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons olive oil, divided

2 teaspoons salt

2 cups of warm water

In a standing mixer with a hook attachment, place the warm water, yeast and sugar and 1 tablespoon olive oil. Allow to sit until yeast begins to foam. Add flour and salt and mix the dough until it is smooth and pulls away from the side of the bowl. Drizzle half of the remaining olive oil over the top of the dough. Turn the dough over in the bowl cover and allow it to rise to approximately twice it’s size. (about an hour)
Punch the dough down and pour out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead again. Place it back in a bowl and drizzle with the remaining olive oil. Turn over, cover and allow to rise a second time. After it has risen, punch it down again. It is now ready to roll out for your pizzas!

…For the sauce…

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 Garlic Cloves
1 Onion
1 – 28 oz. Can Crushed Tomatoes
1 – 5.5 oz.can Tomato Paste
1 – 14 oz. Can Hunt’s Tomato Sauce
1 TBSP Sugar or Splenda
2 tsp. Sweet Basil
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp. Black Pepper

In a 2 quart saucepan over medium heat, in oil, cook garlic & onion until tender, about 5 minutes or so. Be careful not to burn, or sauce will be bitter). Stir in crushed tomatoes, their liquid, and remaining ingredients. Reduce heat to low; cover; simmer for 30 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally.

( I just used spicy spaghetti seasoning instead of all the other spices and it made it even easier!!!)

***Bake the pizzas at 375 degrees for about 30-45 minutes***
